Do you handle emergencies?

We provide emergency services 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Call the clinic, 360-779-5557, to talk with our staff during clinic business hours or follow the emergency instructions to have the doctor on call paged.

With a controlled environment and more resources available, we feel we are able to provide the highest level of emergency care in our hospital. If you are able to trailer your horse to us, let us know and we will meet you at the clinic. If trailering is not an option, we will meet you where your horse is located.

What are your hours?

Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Saturday's are appointment only.  After-hours emergencies are handled 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Where are you located?

Our equine hospital is in Poulsbo, at 5065 NE Lincoln Road, near the intersection of Lincoln Road and Port Gamble Road. Driving directions can be found on our Home page. We also provide ambulatory farm call service to the West Sound Region.

We live a considerable distance from Poulsbo. How do you arrange for service calls?

We service the West Sound Region, from Port Angeles to Gig Harbor. Call our clinic office to schedule a farm call or to be seen after hours if you have an emergency (360.779.5557). There is a farm call fee if we travel to you. Some of our clients group their appointments at one location and share the farm call fee.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept checks, Visa, American Express, Discover or MasterCard and cash. We also participate in ScratchPay. Payment is required at the time of service. Any billing or credit terms must be approved in advance by calling the office and talking with the Practice Manager.

Do you charge an emergency fee?

Daytime emergencies often require rescheduling another client’s appointment or extending the doctor’s work day, or both. If these situations occur, we charge an emergency fee. After hours appointments do incur emergency charges based on time of call.

What do I need to know about Sound Equine?

We are a multiple vet practice which allows us to have a vet available to our clients 7 days a week all year long. You can count on Doctors and Staff to be available when you most need them.

We offer in-hospital care and many services and therapies that are not available elsewhere on this side of the water. See our Services page for more details about some of the state-of-the-art services and therapies we offer. We are often able to save clients and patients the cost and stress of traveling long distances to receive the care they need.

We work very hard to keep our service fees competitive and to meet our goal of providing our clients with the highest quality care in the field and in our hospital. We invest in the latest equipment and technologies to help us make timely and accurate diagnosis and treatments and we are very proud of the services we can provide our clients in the West Sound Region.

I like my current vet but I can’t get some of the diagnostic or therapy services that your practice provides. Do you work with vets/farriers outside of your practice?

Yes. We are happy to work with your veterinarian on a referral basis, in the field or for in hospital care, with any of our updated services and therapies. We are committed to offering our referring doctors the highest standard of coordinated care possible, as well as timely communication and detailed discharge instructions to help with transition from our care.
